Overview

Sidekick is a companion application to System Five.  It allows inventory lookup, order creation and stock counting from a mobile device such as a smartphone.  https://info.windwardsoftware.com/sidekick


It uses our E-commerce Staging (ECS) platform technology and will require WindwardConnect to be configured to have inventory and order information sync back and forth between System Five and Sidekick.


System Five Requirements

  • System Five 7.0 or higher
  • Zen 14 or 15 database
  • An active ODBC Database DSN will be needed and may require server administrative privileges to configure
  • .Net Framework v 4.8 or greater installed on the server or where the WindwardDataGateway will run
  • Windward Connect
  • E-commerce Staging Configuration
  • Windward Academy Login Configuration
  • Microsoft Edge Webview2 needs to be installed on the server and on any workstation that will need to have access to Sidekick.

    • Create an order for processing at the System Five terminal
    • Create an estimate to send to the customer via email or a local printer
  • Data collection for counting Inventory

Solution Articles

Sidekick does NOT:

  • Process payments such as credit or debit cards
  • Edit or update inventory information such as quantities, description, supplier or brand

  • Wifi or cellular network availability
  • Mobile or desktop device using one of the below browsers:
    • Google Chrome, including Android & iOS - Latest Version (Tested 115.0.5790.102)
    • Mozilla Firefox - Latest Version
    • Microsoft Edge - Latest Version (Tested 115.0.1901.183)
    • Apple Safari, including iOS - Latest Version (Tested Safari 16.5)
  • For barcode scanning, the Zebra TC21, TC22 and TC26 are supported
