Overview

QR Codes can be used on inventory labels to allow customers to scan using a smartphone and point to the store's website.  This makes it easy for the customer to remember what they looked at after they leave the store or build out a wishlist while they walk the showroom.

How to print QR Code on Inventory Labels

Section 1

If you are running a version of System Five prior to 6.4.0.108, you must first have Ecommerce enabled in their System Five License codes. (this component is no longer available and you will need to upgrade to current release and follow the steps in section 2).

Then edit the settings in the Setup Wizard -> Network Settings -> System Five Ecommerce System.

In the "Alternate URL:" field, enter the web address followed by %part%

As an example  http://xolights.com/%part% .

Section 2

An enhancement was made in System Five version 6.4.0.108 which allows you to print the QR codes on your inventory labels without the requirement of the Ecommerce component.

Additionally the settings were also moved to Setup Wizard -> Network Settings -> Internet Settings and the URL field has been renamed from 'Alternate URL' to 'QR Code URL'

In the "QR Code URL" field, enter the web address followed by %part%

As an example  http://xolights.com/%part% .

Now create a label design to include QR Code.

Print the new part label from an inventory item and try scanning with a 2D barcode scanner in Windows or scan using your mobile phone. This should take you directly to the part on the web page.
