A data source name (DSN) is a data structure that contains the information about a specific database that an Open Database Connectivity ( ODBC ) driver needs in order to connect to it.
Features that will utilize/require this setting are:
- Speed up System5 searching (Inventory, Customer, Invoices, etc)
- Enable “Multiword Searching”
- System5 Application Server (Bound book, MobilePOS, Form Customization)
Enable DSN in System5:
- Go to Setup Wizard
- Network Settings
- Pervasive.SQL DSN Less Connection
- Enter the DSN Name and name of the server
- Enable Client DSN Less Connection
- Test SQL
On the right side box,
- Turn on DSN to terminals
- Click the “Test SQL” button to test
