Overview
If you are experiencing disconnects on a workstation that is left idle for a long time or performance issues. The Windows Power Saver options may be causing performance or disconnections. This should be disabled to avoid to improve performance.
To Disable Power Saving
- To disable this option on Windows 10 Go to the Control Panel
- Choose Network and Internet –>Network Sharing Center–> Change Adapter Settings
- Choose your connection and Right-Click and choose Properties.
- Click the Configure button to open NIC Properties.
- Go to Power Management Tab and uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off to save power”. See the image below.
How to adjust the Power Setting
This pertains to Windows 10 and Windows 11.
- Go to Control Panel–>System and Security–> Power Options–> Edit Plan Settings
- Set “Turn Off the display” and “Put the computer to sleep” option to Never
- Click on Change advanced power settings
- Set “Turn Off Hard Disks” option to Never and click on the Apply button.
- Set “Turn Off the display” and “Put the computer to sleep” option to Never
