The following is a list of system requirements supported by Windward System Five. Please note that this document is subject to review and may be revised at any time. Please check this page regularly for updates.

Workstations (On-Cloud or On-Prem)

Workstations must use a supported Microsoft Windows operating system. Use of thin client computers is not supported. Windows 11 and Server 2022 are supported and requires the Actian Zen 15 database for compatibility.

Minimum Requirements

  • Windows 10 ‘Professional’ Edition
  • 1.6GHz or faster 64-bit CPU with support for PAE, NX, and SSE2
  • 4GB RAM
  • 20GB Free Disk Space
  • DirectX® 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 Driver and monitor capable of 1080p (1980 x 1080) or higher-resolution
  • 10/100Mbps Wired Ethernet Connection

Recommended Requirements

  • Windows 11 ‘Professional’ Edition (Requires Actian Zen 15 Server, System Five 7.0.0.x)
  • 3.6GHz or faster 64-bit Intel® CoreTM i7 or i9 CPU with (Trusted Platform Module) TPM 2.0 Support
  • 8GB RAM
  • 40GB Free Disk Space
  • DirectX® 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 Driver and monitor capable of 1080p (1980 x 1080) or higher-resolution
  • 1Gbps Wired Ethernet Connection
Support has been discontinued for the below operating systems:
  • Windows Home Operating Systems (Must be Windows Professional)
  • Windows 7
  • Windows 8
  • Windows Server 2008
  • Windows Server 2012

Support has been discontinued for the below database servers:

  • Actian/Pervasive 12 and earlier

Upgrade your database to Actian Zen 15

System Five is not supported on Windows ‘Home’ editions or thin client computers.
Current versions of the application have moved out of scope for PCI and require Datacap NetEPay and supported payment processor to support integrated payments

Server (ON PREM INSTALLATIONS)

‘Server’ denotes either the physical hardware or Virtual Machine (VM) specifications. In the case of a VM, the physical hardware needs to be able to support both the host and virtual systems.

Minimum Requirements

  • Windows Server 2016 Standard (Essentials is not supported)
  • Actian Zen 14 or greater Database Server
  • >1.4ghz, 64-bit CPU
  • 6GB (base) + 300MB/User
  • 250GB HDD
  • SVGA 1024×768 Graphics
  • 10/100Mbps wired ethernet connectivity

Recommended Requirements

  • Windows Server 2019 Standard (Essentials is not supported) (Requires Zen 14 or greater)
  • Windows Server 2022 Standard (Essentials is not supported) (Requires Zen 15, System Five Version 7.0.0.x)
    • NOTE: Server 2022 is supported but we've found some performance issues that are out of our control. The issues cause the server to be significantly slower than server 2019. We're doing our best to identify the problem, but we don't have an ETA for the fix, nor can we fix it ourselves when we find it. Users can stay on or go back to Server 2019 which is still supported and faster.

  • 8GB (base) + 400MB/User
  • 512GB SSD/RAID 10 Redundant Storage
  • SVGA 1024×768 Graphics

Assumes the server is only supporting the Database Engine in a client-server environment, and not running Terminal Services or other servers and services.
